United For Animals has conducted a MOBILE OUTREACH PROGRAM for many years providing one on one humane education and assisting the City of Fort Pierce low income pet owning citizens with their animals. Mobile outreach in our community is a necessity, and not just in service of animals! We must reach out and go where need exists. Many citizen truly either do not know where or how to reach out, do not have transportation, or simply just find the process overwhelming. To complicate the matter, there are often colossal trust issues; however despite these compounded issues, I am proud to say that Janice Douglas and I have made many friends within our Fort Pierce community!
We see people living in poverty who fight depression and apathy. We care deeply about these people and the animals. We believe that a truly wholesome, healthy, safe community must embrace both people and animals!
United for Animals dedicates incalculable hours weekly in service to our community and its citizens by answering countless calls and assisting with basic animal welfare care. We transport animals for spaying, neutering, vaccination, and medical needs to participating vets who understand the challenges of our community and generously provide low cost services to our financially challenged citizens. An important part of our goal is to assist with keeping pets in their homes, and out of area shelters as much as possible.
This reduces costs to taxpayers and stops the perpetual "revolving door" history of animals being discarded by citizens who then simply replace them with another.
Lastly, United for Animals wants to thank the many responsible and compassionate pet owning citizens we have had the privilege to know. These good folks responsibly had their pets spayed and neutered, stopped breeding, or made the choice adopt and not shop. These actions contributed to non-lethal solutions, reducing homeless pet animal impounds and euthanasia!
YOU ARE OUR HEROES AND ARE THE INSPIRATION FOR USE TO CARRY ON WITH THIS DAUNTING WORK!
Our Graphs (see "Making Strides" page) clearly illustrate the success and rewards of the collaboration between our City of Fort Pierce and United For Animals ongoing spay/neuter program. We hope this data will inspire other communities to implement similar programs in order to continue and increase the meaningful impact on people and pets.
